It seems to me that fashion in the urban community has gone out the window due to knock offs that are flooding the community. A knock off is an item that resembles the real deal but alot of short cuts were taken while being manufactured, as a designer the question that comes to mind is what can i do to avoid people trying to categorize my style and product as being cheap and disposable, because that's what knock offs are cheap and disposable, no test were performed on the finished product and so, i do understand why some people wear them, but for the money being spent on the fakes why not get the real deal, so i want to hear what others have to say on this matter.

Unfortunately, most knock-offs are less expensive than the original. So I say, not only an original design, but affordable to the average person. Make the clothing as tight as possible, and just charge less. Then they won't have to buy knock-offs!

to charge less for extreme detail on any garment would mean to take a loss as the designer, for instance if you had a space of 6 " by 8" embroidered that would cost any where from 100 to 200 dollars, due to the time it took to create, which at the least takes an hr or two just to finish, so in a true sense time is money, not just a statement, if it's produced quickly not much effort or thought was put into it, but if it's done strictly done by hand or is a one of a kind piece then those people should be paid without question, keep it comin my brotha i like stuff like this, it brings out the best in people like us.

But then you have the double-edged sword. Bootlegs are made quickly and not as put together. They are cheaply made, but affordable. So the problem is if you put time, effort and details into your work you should be properly compensated for it.

THAT IS CORRECT. MOST SEEM TO THINK WHEN SOMEONE SAYS THEY ARE A FASHION DESIGNER, THAT YOU ARE JUST SOMEONE WHO DRAWS A TECHNICAL DESIGN, AND THEN HAVE IT MADE OVERSEAS, BUT FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AND FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE, I AM A TRUE DESIGNER, BECAUSE I DO IT ALL FROM A TO Z. SO IF I PRODUCED A PAIR OF JEENZ AND DECIDED TO SELL THEM FOR 300.00, THEN THE QUESTION WOULD BE WHY DID THEY COST SO MUCH, AND I CAN TRUTHFULLY SAY, I SOURCED THE FABRIC, I CREATED THE DESIGN, I MADE THE PATTERN, I MADE THE SAMPLE GARMENT, MADE SURE THE FIT WAS CORRECT, AND I DID THE QUALITY CONTROL AND ENDED UP WITH THE FINISHED GARMENT, NOW TELL ME WHAT IS THAT WORTH?
